Here's the view when we got home tonight. The really obvious gains are the railings, steps to the landing, and a ceiling on the porch. The guys were about to install a lot of trim, but it's too dark now to show that. Perhaps I'll catch it tomorrow.... What's left? Finish up the trim, siding on the front, a new overhead lamp "inside," & (I think) eaves troughs. Later we'll stain the deck and modify the (brick) sidewalk. Spring's coming. I can feel it.

The Opera House was built in 1884 as a roller rink--Grand Ledge was a busy resort, and needed entertainment venues. It was soon converted to an opera house, an identity it retained until the late 1920s, when it became a furniture store. The Mapes family donated the building to the city in the 80s. Since 1993 the beautifully-restored Opera House has been a community and cultural center.
