On the date I moved in (7/20/91). Things have changed . Just a bit. Camera: Unknown Photo by Harriett (Hatti) Dinda Never planned to live in a field. I always thought I'd buy a house on a stream, with mature trees. Didn't seem to work out that way. Our house originally lived in Grand Ledge. About a year before I bought the place, the previous owners hired a truck, moved it ten or so miles, and plopped it in a field. As I understand the plan, they intended that their daughter inherit the house, but that fell through and they put the place up for sale. There were neighbors across the road in 1991, but there would be no nearby houses on the west side of the street for another year. Now they've built a subdivision beside and behind us, and we own a corner home. Such is the world.

Mom @ Sleeping Bear

That's my mother, looking out over the Sleeping Bear Dune in 1973. Dad took this photo with his Argus C3, and I scanned it from a slide. That much I know for sure. What follows is speculation. My best guess is that this was shot from what is now called Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, but which was then called Sleeping Bear Dunes Park. I think the view is across Glen Lake, generally toward Glen Arbor. As I say, speculation. But there really aren't all that many places you can find a view like this, and fewer yet with picnic tables.

A flower a day for January .... In memory of my mother, Hatti Dinda. These were from her garden.

Yes, I really wore my hair like that. So sue me. Mom did this sketch, based on my high school graduation photograph. Kalamazoo Loy Norrix High School, 1967.
