My boss stopped by today to wish us well, and to bestow these fine mugs. She is approaching her term limit. But then, so am I....

Bureau Director Fred Bueter, Joan, and Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land. Secretary Land presented Awards of Excellence to a couple dozen staff members this morning; Joan was one of the honorees. (Joan's not nearly as short as this picture makes her look.) I'm delighted. Clearly this is going to be the highlight of what's proving to be a difficult and frustrating week on my job. ============== Sorry about the colors. The light in the room was absolutely terrible.

Last February 17 I had the fastest DMV stop ever: Renewed plates, renewed my photo license, got my picture took, paid, and back to my car in less than 10 minutes. Not bad. ========== I've a low tolerance for DMV jokes, partly because I spent an entire career working for Michigan's Department of State. Besides, the branch manager at the Delta Plus Office--that's this picture--is a friend. But the excellent service was mostly the product of good timing.
