The chimney of Clarence Mill rises up behind the steeply rising houses on Church Mews. This view in looking roughly NNE from a low hill at the edge of the Peak District. Clarence Mill was once a thriving cotton spinning business, now given over to small businesses and community projects.

Nineteenth Century industrial scale cotton spinning in action at Quarry Bank Mill, Styal, Cheshire, UK. The machines make a deafening noise - people used to work in these rooms 6 days a week, 13 hours a day. Mixed light source, nightmare luminescence range, high ISO. 1/60 second shutter speed not slow enough to reflect the movement - perhaps because I had the 'anti shake' on in the camera.
