Bollards in Newman Passage, Fitzrovia. I'm not actually sure what they are. I don't think they're boundary markers of any sort. It looks to me as if they were put there to prevent vehicles damaging the corner of the wall and then carpeted so that the vehicles weren't damaged by the bollards...

In so many of the streets round here the new metal signs have been fixed directly on top of the old painted ones. Here I wonder whether the metal sign didn't quite fit in the gap?
