One of the many sluice gates in a complicated system that controls water levels throughout the flatland's that are the Somerset Levels, this is Boundary Rhyne in an image from last summer. See PIP for watercourse map which includes this part of the levels.

Somerset Levels looking east along the King's Sedgemoor Drain from Greylakes Bridge,This is an artificial drainage channel which diverts the River Cary in Somerset, England along the southern flank of the Polden Hills, to discharge into the River Parrett at Dunball near Bridgwater.
