Church of St Mary's Stogumber, Somerset, This cross probably marked the place where the gospel was first preached in the village, the base and shaft being ancient though the rest is Victorian. HWW!

For over six centuries, The church of St Mary the Virgin, has been the focal point of the village of Stogumber, The tower which was begun in the fourteenth century, is built of red sandstone, but differing styles indicate church extensions over the years! Stogumber is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, on the eastern flank of the Brendon Hills. It also has a station on the West Somerset Railway. A large view for detail! St Mary's old church & cemetery, Kilmuir, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye. The church was built in 1694 -- the date is inscribed on a stone over the north door -- to replace an older medieval church that served as the parish church for the Duirinish region of northern Skye. The most striking memorial inside the burial ground is a large ashlar obelisk commemorating Lord Thomas Fraser, 10th Lord Lovat, who died in 1699 For clarity, a large view would be appreciated, HWW! Eilean Donan Castle in a September mist, Loch Duich from the left, Loch Long from the right, Loch Alsh, the Isle of Skye and the sea center, Original castle built in 1220, However because of involvement in the Jacobite rebellions early in the 18th century, government ships destroyed the castle in 1719. The present-day castle is Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap's 20th-century reconstruction of the old castle. Large may help clarity, HWW!
