Caught in a sliver of sunlight and sitting on a gate overlooking Loch Dunvegan, Isle of Skye! Scotland is apparently the only part of the UK mainland where these birds breed. HFF and a large view recommended!

Totney Drove looking East on a bright but cold winter's day, this is on the Northern edge of the160,000 acres (650 km2) levels, 32 sites of special Scientific interest 12 of which are Special Protection Areas as well as the oldest known timber trackway dating from around 3800 BC are all to be found in this part of the levels, Droves are roads and Rhynes (Somerset Spelling) are watercourses The note is of Brent Knoll at 449ft (137 M) it is one of the few points of higher ground on the levels and was an Island prior to the draining of the area. I would encourage a large view !

Steep Holm Island in the Bristol Channel it a nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with a large bird population and plants including wild peonies. It is believed to have been inhabited since the iron age. Like many I still have to post images from a while ago. Captured as the sun prepares to sink below the horizon, Better large I think
