677 Bloor Street West, Toronto

The building opened in 1938 and was designed by the architects Kaplan and Sprachman. This shot was taken about six months before the theatre closed in 2013. It was then converted into a rock-climbing gym with retail in front. The marquee has been retained. Everything looks much spiffier today. I recommend opening the full-screen view (click the pic, then click the frame at the upper right of the screen) and then clicking on the full-screen view to have a look at details.

Theatre in the alley

A Fringe Festival production being staged in the alley that ran through Honest Ed's department store in Toronto. The name of the production is a bit crude but if you're feeling crudity-proof click the pic to enlarge it and have a look at the sign on the platform. For some history of Honest Ed's, click the picture in the PiP at upper left. I don't know why they removed the spinning red-and-yellow globes; they were cool.
