SSC Saturday Self-Challenge, 16.12.17 Letters of the Alphabet Die Buchstaben M - F - P als eine Art Monogramm zusammengefasst ist Lüneburgs Stadtmarke, sie stehen für die lateinischen Wörter Mons (Berg) - Fons (Quelle) - Pons (Brücke) und weisen auf die Entstehungsgeschichte der Stadt Lüneburg: der Berg steht für den Kalkberg, die Quelle für die Salzquelle Lüneburgs und die Brücke für die über die Ilmenau. Dieses Monogramm ist an zahlreichen Gebäuden und wie im obigen Bild auf einem Kanaldeckel zu finden. The letters M - F - P are summarized as a kind of monogram Lüneburg city mark, they stand for the Latin words Mons (mountain) - Fons (source) - Pons (bridge) and point to the origins of the city of Lüneburg: the mountain stands for the Kalkberg, the source of the salt source Lüneburg and the bridge over the Ilmenau. This monogram can be found on many buildings and on a manhole cover as in the picture above.
