L’abbaye Notre-Dame de Déols est une ancienne abbaye bénédictine, maintenant largement en ruines (fondée en 917, juste après l'abbaye de Cluny en Bourgogne). Tout comme son puissant modèle bourguignon, l'abbaye était placée sous l'autorité directe du pape (et non sous celle de l'archevêque). Le prestigieux passé médiéval ne livre pas tous ses secrets au premier coup d’œil, et c'est génial de les découvrir petit à petit. 1100 YEARS OF HISTORY Notre-Dame de Déols Abbey is a former Benedictine abbey, now largely in ruins (founded in 917, just after Cluny Abbey in Burgundy). Like its powerful Burgundian model, the abbey was placed under the direct authority of the Pope (and not that of the Archbishop). The prestigious medieval past doesn't reveal all its secrets at first glance, and it's great to discover them step by step.
