For the WPD, I wanted to revisit a find I made a long time ago. When I discovered these 14th-century ruins in the late 1980s, they were covered in ivy and you could only guess at their hidden splendour. A few years later, the town bought the castle, started to clear the ivy from the walls and carried out some repairs. Today it stands like this before the visitor, lost in the countryside in the middle of the fields. It exudes an incredible charm and a certain spell seems to hang over the old stones. Now guided tours and occasional events, including medieval dinners and scavenger hunts, are offered. Pour la JMP, j'avais envie de revenir sur une trouvaille d'il y a longtemps. Quand j'ai découvert ces ruines du XIVe siècle vers la fin des années 1980, elles étaient couvertes de lierre et on ne devinait que la splendeur cachée. Quelques années plus tard, la ville a racheté le château, a commencé à dégager le lierre qui couvrait ses murs et a fait quelques réparations. Aujourd'hui il se présente ainsi devant le visiteur, perdu dans la campagne au milieu des champs. Il dégage un charme fou et un certain sortilège semble planer sur les vieilles pierres. Maintenant des visites guidées, ainsi que des animations occasionnelles, notamment des dîners médiévaux et des chasses au trésor, sont proposées. Für den WFT wollte ich auf einen Fund von vor langer Zeit zurückblicken. Als ich diese Ruinen aus dem 14. Jh. in den späten 1980er Jahren entdeckte, waren sie mit Efeu bewachsen und man konnte nur die verborgene Pracht erahnen. Einige Jahre später kaufte die Stadt die Burg, begann, die Mauern vom Efeu zu befreien und führte einige Reparaturen durch. Heute steht sie so vor dem Besucher, wie verloren in der Landschaft inmitten von Feldern. Sie strahlt einen unglaublichen Charme aus und ein gewisser Zauber scheint über den alten Steinen zu liegen. Jetzt werden Führungen sowie gelegentliche Veranstaltungen, darunter mittelalterliche Abendessen und Schatzsuchen, angeboten.

I wasn't able to go out on Saturday 19 August (evening garden party with guests and lots of preparations to do). So I took this photo in the afternoon from one end of our house. Je n'ai pas pu sortir ce samedi 19 août (le soir fête au jardin avec des invités, donc plein de préparations à faire). Du coup j'ai pris cette photo en debut d'après-midi d'un bout de notre maison. Avant ici il y avait le bucher, aujourd'hui c'est un bureau. MEIN BEITRAG ZUM WELTFOTOTAG. Ich konnte an diesem Samstag 19. August nicht von zuhause weg (abends Gartenparty mit Gästen, daher viele Vorbereitungen zu treffen). Deshalb habe ich nachmittags dieses Foto von einem Ende unseres Hauses gemacht. Früher war hier der Holzschuppen, heute ist es ein Büro.

For the WPD I wanted to "honor" something really old - and I didn't find anything older! The Gallo-Roman camp "Rubricaire" is known from a text from the 2nd century AD, copied in the 11th century, and transmitted, without alteration, by tradition and popular language. This fortress contains scattered dwellings and baths. What I show here had been the thermal baths. Outside the fortress, 25 m below, stand these ruins. The "balneum" included the ordinary services: cold baths, steam room and hot baths.

... ce jour, le 19 août pour la Journée Mondiale de la Photographie, mais aussi à l'intérieur de cette vielle tour du 12ème siècle. L'horloge et les cloches témoignent du passé mais sont à jamais arrêtés. Ce sont les seules vestiges de l'ancienne église paroissiale Saint Georges (voir PiP) qui a été démolie en 1963, le clocher est tout ce qui reste. TIME STANDS STILL... this day, August 19 for World Photography Day, but also inside this old 12th century bell tower. The clock and the bells testify to the past but are forever stopped. These are the only vestiges of the old parish church Saint Georges (see PIP) which was demolished in 1963, the bell tower is all what remains. DIE ZEIT STEHT STILL ... am heutigen Tag, 19.August, zum Weltfotografietag, aber auch in diesem alten Glockenturm aus dem 12. Jh. Die Uhr und die Glocken zeugen von der Vergangenheit, stehen aber für immer still. Es sind die einzigen Reste der alten Pfarrkirche Saint Georges (siehe PIP), sie wurde 1963 abgerissen, der Turm ist alles, was übrig geblieben ist..
