Gevleugeld wiel linksboven: In opdracht van Prorail is het 'Gevleugeld Wiel', het oorspronkelijke beeldmerk van vele spoorwegmaatschappijen, na 75 jaar teruggeplaatst op de nok van de zuidkap van Amsterdam CS! Vanaf 1889 tot ongeveer 1930 heeft dit beeldmerk (dat ook het eerste NS-beeldmerk was), de nok gesierd. Het beeldmerk bestaat uit een afbeelding van een treinwiel geflankeerd door de vleugels van de handelsgod Mercurius. Het wiel is 4 meter breed en 5.35 meter hoog!

The historic center of Amsterdam will be the atmospheric decor of the International Lighting Festival for 53 days. The festival brings with it some special surprises. Over 40 artworks and installations by national and international artists, designers and architects will lighten the city of Amsterdam. Among these works is a light object of the world-famous Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei. The Amsterdam Light Festival’s artworks can be admired both on the water and on the land.
