Diese beiden Reiterinnen begegneten mir kürzlich bei einer Waldwanderung. Das hintere Pferd war an den Flanken auf beiden Körperseiten geschoren (siehe Notiz). Auf Nachfrage wurde mir erklärt, dass bei der zur Zeit relativ hohen Temperatur das Islandpferd mit deinem dichten Winterfell sehr stark schwitzt, weswegen die Flanken rasiert werden müssen, um das Tier vor Überhitzung zu schützen. Übrigens war das Islandpferd schon über 30 Jahre alt, aber nach Auskunft der Reiterin noch voll leistungsfähig. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islandpferd I recently met these two riders on a forest hike. I was told that the Icelandic horse with its thick winter coat sweats a lot in the current relatively high temperatures, which is why the flanks have to be shaved to protect the animal from overheating. Incidentally, the Icelandic horse was already over 30 years old but, according to the rider, still fully fit.

Auch bei diesen wirklich sehr kalten Februartagen mit viel Schnee war dieses kleine Pferd (mit seinem Artgenossen) auf der Weide. Mit Futter und Wasser wurde es natürlich versorgt. Der Besitzer hat eine plausible Erklärung: Es sind Islandpferde, die auch große Kälte und Schnee vertragen. Ein herzlicher HFF-Gruß an alle Iperianer! Even during these really very cold February days with lots of snow, this little horse (with its fellow horse) was out in the pasture. It was provided with food and water, of course.
