Entlang eines Wanderwegs auf Winterhäuser Gemarkung wurden 12 Skulpturen aus Muschelkalk aufgestellt, die unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten das Thema Mond darstellen. Die Skulptur wurde direkt neben einem Muschelkalk-Steinbruch aufgestellt, aus dem Steine für den Bau des Reichstagsgebäude in Berlin gebrochen wurden. Die Künstlerin hat zu ihrer Skulptur ein Gedicht verfasst: "Göttin des Tages und der Nacht, Urquell des Lebens, alabasterhell erleuchtest du den Nachthimmel. Die untersten Schichten in diesem Steinbruch sind ca. 230 Millionen Jahre alt (Zeit der ersten Dinosaurier). Die fränkischen Steinbrüche entstanden durch Ablagerungen im Muschelkalkmeer (nördlich der Alpen), das nach Süden mit dem Ozean (Tethys) in Verbindung stand. Es entstanden zum Teil enorme Kalkablagerungen von bis zu 100 m (siehe PiP). Der fränkische Muschelkalk ist ein begehrtes Baumaterial. Allerdings konkurriert der Abbau mit Zielen des Naturschutzes, so dass es lokal immer wieder zu heftigen Konflikten zwischen Umweltschützern und Besitzern von Kalksteinbrüchen kommt. Auf einer Origano-Blüte saugen ganz friedlich nebeneinander ein Rapsweißling (Pieris napi) rechts im Bild und ein seltener Kreuzdorn-Zipfelfalter (Satyrium spini) links . Stellenweise ist der Kreuzdorn-Zipfelfalter sehr stark gefährdet. Der Name des Falters bezieht sich auf die Futterpflanze der Raupe (Kreuzdorn Rhamnus) und auf die kleinen Zipfelchen an den Hinterflügeln des Falters (s. PiPs). Der Steinbruch unterhalb eines Naturschutzgebietes ist ausgebeutet, jetzt plant die Firma, auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite einen Erweiterungssteinbruch anzulegen. Sechs Hektar Wald (entsprechen neun großen Fußballfeldern!) wurden dort bereits gerodet, vier weiter Hektar werden folgen. Ersatzpflanzungen sollen die gerodete Waldfläche ausgleichen. Bis aber die Neuanpflanzung wieder die Leistungskraft des gerodeten Waldes erreicht, werden sicher ca. 60 Jahre vergehen.
