HMS Lee was built in Sunderland between 1888 and 1889 by William Doxford and Sons; On 5 October 1909 the destroyer was wrecked off Blacksod Bay on the west coast of Ireland.

The Royal Navy Destroyer HMS Tiger was sunk when it was hit by the much larger cruiser Berwick on the 2nd of April 1908. The Tiger was sliced in two and reputedly sank in three minutes, 35 sailors were drowned. Not all of the crew are shown on this postcard. www.olioweb.me.uk/echoes/htmlpages/james_hargreaves.html

The SS Roumania was a cargo ship on her way from Liverpool to Bombay with 55 passengers and 67 crew, only 2 of the passengers and 7 of the crew survived.
