1994 - A flying double bass, connecting Fürstenwalde in Germany and Melbourne in Australia, for Ursula Wienckowski, as a comfort for her son Vincent emigrating to Australia

1994 - For "Wonderful" Shirley Wray, my brilliant bookseller friend in Berlin!

1989 - One of my earliest needlepoints. You can see where I ran out of the background grey colour - I had grossly underestimated how much tapestry wool it takes. This was my wedding present for my first husband, Uli Stumpf.

1998 - Lost this case a few years later in Wuppertal... why is it always Wuppertal?!

1993 - All in petite-point!

1994 - Inspired by a trip to St Petersburg. Of course there had to be an aardvark, and then there was a space in the bottom left that needed filling. I asked my friend Wolfgang Kapke what could go there and he immediately said "a banana skin". And he was right.

1983 - Bad photo, nice little cushion. Aardvarks underwater were a recurrent theme.

1993 - With apologies to all ancient Egyptians. What can I say? I had a thing about aardvarks.

1988 - My first needlepoint! Took me forever to do.

1994 - This was the first time I tried a circular needlepoint, which entailed grafting pieves together. It was fun!

1989 - Fun with little repeating patterns

1997 - Manuela, Mascha and I had agreed that if Manuela got married then we would come to her wedding and we would wear cow patterned shorts and coconuts as bikini tops. Turned out I couldn't get there, but I made this instead. And why Surinam? This was a running joke between us in the years we worked at the Australian Consulate-General in Berlin. To have it explained to you, you have to be drinking beer.
