1961 Wolseley 1500 MkII - 446 UXY

What you might call an honest survivor. Not a show winner and far from exceptionally clean, but I admired this little car despite that and in fact it was maybe it's honesty that made it most appealing.
The MkII Wolseley 1500 was introduced in 1960, but the overall style and layout wasn't significantly altered from the earlier MkI.
The most notable development was the more modern look achieved by the boot and bonnet hinges now being hidden. The side chrome trim was also remodelled, losing the circled 'W' and now extending to the front of the car before returning to the wheel arch.
Sadly, the Mk II was short lived, after only a year and a half’s life it was replaced with another slightly improved version: the Wolseley 1500 MkIII.

Close up come detail shot of the front end of that lovely Corvette from earlier ... especially for those that like their chrome!

This glorious looking Corvette was first registered over here in 1988, but was manufactured in 1961.
Interestingly, that was the year that the rear of the car was completely redesigned with the addition of the so-called "duck tail" featuring four round lights: a design formation that would become synonymous with the Corvette for decades to come.

The Ford Thames 400E was made by Ford UK and introduced in 1957. Production continued until September 1965, by which time a total of 187,000 had been built.
And very nice they are too!
1961 Rover 80 - MAS 402

The Rover P4 series cars were produced from 1950 to 1964, during which period over 130,000 cars were built.
Their P4 designation is factory terminology and back then at least was not in day-to-day use by the public who would have used the appropriate consumer designations for their models - this particular one being an example of the Rover 80.
I have to say that my own preference when it comes to old Rovers has to be the P5, but I do still like the P4. You can find out more about these cars and their history by following the link below:

There must be something about this old truck that appeals to me because despite rarely shooting anything this big, I always seem to take a snap of this one whenever I see it!

The Hillman Minx was a series of cars produced under the Hillman marque by the Rootes Group between 1932 and 1970. There have been many versions of the Minx over the years, as well as various badge-engineered versions sold under the Humber, Singer, and Sunbeam marques.

1961 Dodge Phoenix - MSU 928

The Dodge Phoenix, produced by Chrysler Australia, was actually an Australian assembled version of the American Dodge Dart.
However, unlike its American cousin it was only offered as a four-door sedan.
The original sales brochure proclaimed " here is the car you will either OWN or ENVY! " and stated that it had " everything that's latest and best in motoring " before ending with the claim that " once you handle this thoroughbred you'll never be happy with anything else! ".
Just a shame it was so damned ugly!

Between 1951 and 1962 the Consul was the four-cylinder base model of the three-model Ford Zephyr range, comprising Consul, Zephyr and Zephyr Zodiac. This particular car, a 4-door saloon from 1961, looked in outstanding condition.

You won't find many trucks in my photostream, but I did like this old Seddon Atkinson cab. Initially, a British company with a proud heritage, the firm went through many changes over the years before eventually being owned by IVECO who in 2002 transferred manufacturing to their factory in Madrid. Sadly, production of Seddon Atkinson trucks ceased completely in October 2006.
