In The Corner ...

For this week's Sunday Challenge , for which we were asked to find an S-curve .
We were told if we were really struggling we could simply photograph the letter S , but ideally we were to find something that resembled the S-curve .
Sounded straightforward, but when it came to getting a suitable subject like many I found it to be a more difficult challenge than it first appeared.
In the end I managed to come up with a couple, both taken this week at Newby Hall in North Yorkshire.
This ornate bit of stonework was found on a wall within the grounds, whilst the one in the Notes is of a Willow tree that I noticed had a bizarre S-like twist to the trunk.
Apologies for the late posting and being behind with comments, but the Bank Holiday weekend has been very busy ... so a big thank you to Chris for keeping the 'door' open so that I could still post an entry this week!
Beware The Intruder ...

Another one taken recently at Newby Hall in North Yorkshire.
I was admiring one of the many large conifers when I spotted this intruder, which appeared to have spotted an opportunity to take up residence in the upper canopy.
Ran it through the 'processing room' to try and emphasise the small, but beautiful stowaway, which I hope you'll enjoy seeing as much as I did.
Please view on black for best effect.

For this week's Sunday Challenge , for which we were asked to come up with anything that is vaguely to do with St. Patrick's Day .
St. Patrick’s Day occurs annually on March 17 in observance of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. What began as a religious feast day in the 17th century has evolved into a variety of festivals across the globe celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and a whole lot of green.
Now try as hard as I could I must admit I was struggling this week to find a suitable subject and then, once again, Ripley Castle came to my rescue just as it did a couple of weeks back for a previous challenge.
This time I found my opportunity whilst making my way around the Deer Path as we came across an area that had been planted up with various forms of daffodil, including these that were labelled as being Narcissus "St. Patrick's Day" .
Sadly, none of them were in flower although many of the daffodils nearby, which were of a different variety, were blooming vigorously. So, I'm not sure if these were incorrectly labelled, had been planted in too much shade, or are just another sign of climate change.
I did think of moving the label and taking a shot of the ones that were in flower, but then that would have been cheating and I'm sure someone would have realised they were a different variety - lol!
Best viewed large on black.

Simple, as one of my friends here on ipernity said recently, it's time for another orb.
Both the sphere and the background in this one were crafted from some of the shots I took recently of pine cones.
Best appreciated full screen, so please hit z if you have time to spare.

Here's another shot I took whilst walking around a local wood trying to find inspiration for this week's Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of abstract nature .
Must admit as interesting as the textures were on the tree to start with this one has had some post processing done to emphasise the sense of the abstract. Hit z to view large for best effect.
You'll find a copy of the original SOOC shot in the Notes.
The Bare Necessities ...

For this week's Sunday Challenge , for which the theme is abstract in nature .
I spent some time earlier in the week walking around a local wood looking for things to shoot, which is where I collected these freshly dropped pine cones.
And although some of the shots I took out and about were okay I eventually decided to create an image in my back garden using the pine cones.
Fairly minimal processing on this one overall apart from tweaking the levels and a smidgen of sharpening.
