1956 Mercedes W128 - 238 XUT

10 Feb 2016 7 10 1210
I read online that the Mercedes-Benz W128, which was one of the 'Ponton' series of passenger vehicles they produced after World War II, wasn't introduced until 1958. However, the DVLA records show this one as being manufactured in 1956. Now that would suggest it might in fact be an example of the earlier W120, but given the lines of the bodywork and the fact that it had a 2.2 litre engine I'm pretty confident it is a W128. Regardless of the exact model, it sure was one fine looking old classic and a pretty chunky one at that. I don't normally care for Mercs, but I did like the look of this one.

Okay, so you're probably expecting me to say that this would make a good base for a hot rod? Well, I'm actually thinking it's rather nice as it is ... must be getting old!

1988 VW Jetta Mk2 GL - F741 NVT

Found this rather tired 'ratty' Mk2 Jetta in the car park ... basically a Golf with a boot stuck on. Sadly, this one can't now be found on the DVLA site so it may have be lost to that great car park in the sky!

Another shot of that lovely Chrysler, this time a detail of the rear wing ... or should I say fender!

Never tire of seeing this old Chrysler, even better when it's parked up in a quiet corner!

Two blokes and an old car ... the conversation probably went on for hours!

One last shot of this old Chrysler bring this album to a close. To be honest I could have posted more, but I've tried to select the best shots and concentrated on uploading them along with a few of my personal favourites. Hope you've enjoyed the ride!

Just me playing with the angles ... kind of like it.

Funny how there are some cars you never tire of seeing or for that matter shooting ... this, for me at least, is one of those cars!

Maybe not as striking as the '59, but still a beautiful looking car.

1965 Volvo Amazon - GYH 854C

Always had a thing about the Amazon, especially the 2-door models like this one. Probably because they make me think of the Rover P5, which is another of my favourite old cars.

Well, it's a 1965 Caddy, but other than that I've no idea. Hopefully, someone out there can help and maybe even tell me what's with the straps coming off the front bumper?

Nice lines on these old cars!

1961 Dodge Phoenix - MSU 928

The Dodge Phoenix, produced by Chrysler Australia, was actually an Australian assembled version of the American Dodge Dart. However, unlike its American cousin it was only offered as a four-door sedan. The original sales brochure proclaimed " here is the car you will either OWN or ENVY! " and stated that it had " everything that's latest and best in motoring " before ending with the claim that " once you handle this thoroughbred you'll never be happy with anything else! ". Just a shame it was so damned ugly!

1970's Cadillac Sedan De Ville - Details Unknown

Can't give specific details on this one as it had the registration obscured. However, from the body style I'm guessing it's a Fourth Generation model from either the late Seventies or early Eighties. UPDATE: Thanks to Norm for confirming it's definitely a late Seventies model.
