Playtime Is Over ...

Produced for this week's Sunday Challenge , for which we had to shoot something that rolls . I came across this old battered up football a few weeks ago when I was out walking in Brompton, North Yorkshire, looking for things I could photograph for the pareidolia challenge. However, when I read our mission for this week this image came immediately to mind so I hope you'll forgive me a dip into the archives as it seemed the ideal excuse for finally sharing it. Once again, it's a little bit on the dark side, so best viewed large with the curtains closed to be appreciated at its best. The original shot was considerably lighter, but the condition of the ball made me think of my title and that in turn seemed to be crying our for a darker and more sombre bit of processing.

Up The Junction ...

One of several that could best be described as being a 'nearly ran' for a recent Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of shadows . As with my official entry this is based around a shot I took of an external metal staircase that was casting some interesting shadows onto the pebble dash rendering.

Just a little bit of post Halloween scariness for you ... why not go full screen on black, that's if you dare!

Ripples And Shadows ...

For this week's Sunday Challenge , which has the theme of shadows only . Whilst passing a building in Northallerton I noticed that the external metal staircase was casting some interesting shadows onto the pebble dash rendering. This is one of the shots then that I took that day. I must admit to having done some mild processing, mainly to try and create the impression that the shadow was being cast onto water. Best viewed large for maximum effect.

A psychedelic representation of VW's Mk2 Scirocco based on a photograph of my own car ... enough colour for you folks?

In The Shadows ...

Produced for this week's Sunday Challenge , which as you might expect had the theme of Halloween . This is a shot I took of a Halloween costume purchased from our local Wilko store. Although the material looked rather cheap, well it did only cost me £5.00, I liked the mask and felt it offered some real potential for the challenge. So I pinned it carefully to a large tree that stands at the bottom of our garden and took a few snaps before selecting this one to do some processing on. I played about with the levels etc. and added in the eyes using a mixture of PhotoShop and PaintShop Pro to create the final image you see here. For those that are interested in such things you'll find a copy of the original shot in the Notes. And all this goes to prove that ghosts do come out in the daylight ... they just wait for you in the shadows! Please view large ... that's if you dare! ;)

Out To Pasture ...

Whilst we were out looking for a suitable subject for a recent Sunday Challenge I spotted this old donkey out grazing in a field by the side of the road on the outskirts of Topcliffe. It looked so sad and lonely that I thought I'd stop and offer it some company. Sadly it wouldn't come to me, but I did manage to get a few distant shots of it and this is a reworking of one of the better ones. I was happy enough with the original shot, which you can find in the Notes, but I thought he/she deserved some TLC so I've tried to do provide that with some 'painterly' editing. Probably best viewed large on black ... here's hoping you guys like the end result?
