The Three Lambs ...

Running late again, but for what it's worth here is my entry for this week's, or should that be last week's, Sunday Challenge .
In keeping with recent challenges there were a few options around a central theme and I elected to go with a combination of Spring and New Growth .
I had been hoping to use one of the shots I took whilst doing the Farndale Daffodil Walk , but in the end I wasn't all that happy with the shots I got on the day and so decided to look for inspiration elsewhere.
As it happens, that was to be found much closer to home, in a small field on the outskirts of Northallerton that contained a few sheep along with their fairly young looking lambs.
Initially, when I came upon them and moved in to try and get a close up shot there were only two lambs in my sights - the two in the foreground. However, once I'd started snapping away a third lamb came across and nuzzled in behind them.
I guess he just didn't want to miss the opportunity of having his photo taken!

1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 - VAT 777

This one is for Ann ...
The E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971, with a new 5.3 L twelve-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine, uprated brakes and standard power steering. The brand new V12 engine was originally developed for the Le Mans series and the final engine could supposedly propel this 'big cat' from 0-60 mph in less than 7 seconds.
The short wheelbase FHC body style was discontinued and so the V12 was available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The newly used longer wheelbase now offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.

This week's Sunday Challenge was to photograph three things the same, only one of which should be in focus , which you also had to treat in some other way .... a sort of 'two for one' if you like!
So I decided to take 3 bottles of my favourite tipple, which must surely be one of America's finest exports after the early Ford Mustangs and the Chevrolet Camaro.
The added spin if you like was that I shot them in near total darkness with only low/selective lighting ... cheers everyone!

This is one of several shots I took around The Northern Echo Arena, which is home of Darlington Mowden Park RFC and situated on the outskirts of the town.
It was intended, but not actually used for a Sunday Challenge earlier this year, which had the theme of grey and considered twice since, but again not used for TSC when the themes were metallic and numbers .
It's actually just one of the roller shutters that are located around the outside of the stadium taken up close at an acute angle to try and give it more interest.
1971 VW Type 3 1600 E Variant - PLC 826L

Once again, a bit of a messy background, but I felt it worthy of an upload.
This was possibly the tidiest of all the Type 3 models on show. Interestingly, although manufactured in 1971 this one wasn't actually registered until 1973.

Not the best car shot I've ever taken and the background is a bit cluttered.
However, I felt it worthy of an upload if only because you don't see that many of these old things knocking around these days.

I shot this recently whilst walking through fields on the outskirts of Northallerton.
Submitted for this week's Sunday Challenge , which had the theme of 1 or 3 or 5 of something and left us wide open as far as subject and processing was concerned.
Cropped widescreen to try and emphasise the solitary nature of the single poppy in what I believe was a field of wheat or barley.

2006 Triumph Rocket III - AR05 KET

The Triumph Rocket III is something of a two-wheeled beast, being powered by a 2,294cc three-cylinder engine. Produced since 2004, the name is derived from the 1968 BSA motorcycle, the Rocket 3, which was also produced as the Triumph Trident.
Despite extensive market research, the Rocket III has apparently had difficulty finding its niche.

One final snap of the beautiful BMW M3 that was at this show. Again, this was just taken with my little Olympus ... great camera, but the batteries only seem to last for a few shots!

Based on the 1986 model year E30 3-Series, the E30 M3 used the BMW S14 engine. In contrast to later M3 iterations, the E30 M3 was campaigned by BMW as well as other racing teams.
2009 Mazda 3 Sport - YH09 MBU

A 'teasing' shot of my old Mazda 3 Sport, Ruby. She was the first car we'd owned from new and I really did like her. Sadly, I ended up selling her to finance the purchase of the white Mk2 Scirocco you'll find elsewhere in my photostream, which we call Lily. I'd not be without my Scirocco, but I do miss Ruby. In an ideal world I'd have kept her and also bought Lily, but we're not exactly well off so it was one or the other and the appeal of having an old Scirocco again won through.

Saw this in Shipley, West Yorkshire around the time I was looking to buy a Mazda 3 myself. Sadly, I couldn't afford the MPS and had to settle for a 1.6 Sport model, but it was still a looker as you'll see when I get the photos sorted.
