Long Shadows

The sun at our backs gave me a chance to take this, as the trail stretches on below us.

Stagnant Water 2

More standing water. Even for natural water, it looked pretty bad. I wonder if any of the deer etc. that supposedly haunt the park (I didn't see any signs, honestly) ever try to drink it?

The Path Home

The only downside to this park is you *have* to do back the way you came. I prefer loops. But it did allow me this neat look at where we'd been and where we were going.

Looking up the Bike Trail

02 Mar 2022 83
The park has an unusual facet, bike-only trails. This one didn't get any use, but others did. Neat concept, even if I felt like I wanted to cheat and see what the bikers got to see and I didn't! (Note: I can't manage an off-road bike.) I loved how the late-afternoon sun was cutting through here.

Fern Floor 1

A lot of the forest floor was covered in ferns, prompting many a bad pun from me as we walked alongside them on the trail.

Fern Floor 2

So many ferns!

Decay in Real Time

A lot of the canyon is in transition like this tree stump that's starting the first stages of decay.

Sunlight Moss

Really happy with how this came out. Hitting the trail in late afternoon meant the sun kept peeking out, and I thought how it hit this mossy dying tree looked cool. Not bad for taking this without looking directly at the lens (for obvious reasons!).

Natural Fortress

I imagine elves or orcs or something use this, somehow.

Stagnant Water

About 2/3 of the way into the bottom of the canyon is a pond that only a frog could love. "What do think this holds?" Erica asked. "Mosquitos." "Let's move on, then."
