Comino is the smallest inhabited island in the Maltese archipelago and lies between Malta and Gozo. St. Mary's Tower was built in 1618 by the knights under grandmaster Wignacourt. Holy Week is a big event in Catholic Malta. Every church has their own statues that are displayed during Holy Week and carried in processions on Good Friday, accompanied by brass bands playing funeral marches. The main photos were taken in Rabat (Victoria) on Gozo. A catholic TV station did broadcast this! The photos in the note are from San Lawrenz in Birgu (Vittoriosa) and Santa Marija Assunta in Mosta. Jede Kirche hat eigene Passionsstatuen, die während der Karwoche in den Kirchen stehen und am Karfreitag in Prozessionen durch die Strassen getragen werden. Immer dabei sind Blaskapellen, die Trauermärsche spielen. Die Fotos des Hauptbildes sind aus Rabat (Victoria) auf Gozo. Diese Prozession wurde von einem katholischen Fernsehsender übertragen! Xlendi is a village on the SW coast of Gozo. The sheltered harbour was used by the Romans already and quite a few Roman ships were wrecked on the reef at the mouth of the bay. Nowadays tourism is the main source of income, the sea around the steep cliffs with its many caves is a popular diving spot. The inset photo shows Xlendi Tower , built in 1650 under Grandmaster Juan de Lascaris-Castellar.

Azure Window is a rock arch on the coast of Gozo. After a major rockfall in 2012 it is expected that the window will cave in within the next few years (the second inset shows the window in 2011, seen from the other side, when people were still allowed to walk over). Addendum: The window finally caved in in a storm on 08.03.2017.
