Ġgantija megalithic temples

The temples of Ġgantija are the oldest megalithic temples on the Maltese islands.The older and larger one dates from 3600 BC, the other was built around 150 years later.

Thanks very much, Andy! I was amazed at how old they are. Luckily the temples on Gozo weren't roofed in yet. The ones on Malta have a tent structure to protect them which isn't ideal for taking photos. There was talk they also wanted to protect Ġgantija that way...

Schön, dass du das zeigst, Gudrun! Da haben wir was verpasst: erstens die Tempel, zweitens die Landschaft die dort tatsächlich noch vorhanden ist, sie wäre im April auch schön grün gewesen - mit vielen Blumen. Wir waren leider zu spät auf Gozo, weil wir vorher noch versucht hatten, in die Blaue Grotte zukommen.

Besten Dank, Volker! Schade, dass ihr nicht mehr von Gozo sehen konntet, da hättet ihr wesentlich mehr Landschaft und Grün gefunden als auf der Hauptinsel! Eine ganze Woche auf Gozo würde sicher nicht langweilig;-) Beim 2. Besuch war es bei mir leider auch nur ein Tagesausflug, beim ersten Besuch aber immerhin 4 Tage:-)
