Documenting Miscellaneous Domestic Paraphernalia

Remote control on arm of chair photographed using Nikon D700 with Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 lens, a remarkable optic equipped with image stabilisation (Tamron call it 'VC') and a capability to focus close enough to almost qualify as a macro lens.
Many photographers think of a 35mm as their standard lens, yet for me it seems wider than I want. My first serious camera came with a Helios 58mm f/2 lens, and even then I wanted more telephoto. However, that's not to say the 35mm wouldn't be just right in a wedding setting, for instance. Or for documenting miscellaneous domestic paraphernalia.

Nikon D700 and AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5, much cropped, converted to B&W. Tiny file. Need to get closer (least expensive option), use telephoto (tried that with no notable success) , or buy more megapixels (very expensive option).

Music and Movement

'Music and Movement' was a BBC series ('Music and Movement Stage One') provided for schools and broadcast on radio from 1934 until 1969.
During some of those years 'radio' was more commonly known as 'wireless'.
None of this has anything much to do with the photograph, which incidentally would probably have been called a 'snap' during the same period.

Looking back;
Oh, way back -
So long ago now -
I would say
Without a moment's hesit
Ation
That I have been fascinated
With bus stops for
Oh, a long long time.
With buses,
Less so.

Devizes, Wilts.
Photographed in 2012.
Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro + Nikkor AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED.
Processing notes: This was always a JPEG and thus scope for improvements is limited. Fuji colours are usually well saturated and that seemed to work against me with this photo. I put it through the old version of PicMonkey which still survives on the ipernity platform and made distinct improvement to the colours; then I wondered what it might look like in B&W and on a whim used a Tri-X filter. Finally I restored some of the colour, keeping it muted, and settled for what you now see above.
Returning To Their Roots

People buying fruit and vegetables in the open air, in circumstances where they can reach in and explore the texture and rub the soil remaining on the surface, are doing something pretty primal. There is a dichotomy between what they are doing now and what they did an hour or two previously when they put on designer clothes and elevated sunglasses above their forehead. Metaphorically - and for real - they are returning to their roots.
Converted from colour with a Tri-X filter simulation.
Tri-X provides a rich, grainy texture and tonal response to certain colours such as skin tones.

This is a reminder to myself to take stock. To stop being over-ambitious; not to expect much from modest equipment; to accept that some opportunities will be missed simply because I am too distant.
Although I am no longer a flickr user, I occasionally look in to see what can be done with this or that bit of kit. I have seen what Alex Eganov accomplishes with two lenses which I happen also to use and I am put to shame. I realise my limitations. I would like to improve. Meanwhile, the occasional excursion into my old photographs - with better editing - will underline the long road I have to travel.
