Without any silverware to give it scale, that pink plaster heart looks menacingly huge.

Did you know before today that Martha Washington served Pineapple Cherry Sundaes on George's birthday, or that Lincoln's birthday faves included Cream of Tomato Soup with Cheese Popcorn?
Me neither.

L. The dishes are credited to Hammacher, Schlemmer & Co., which seems particularly opulent since the Depression was still on. At least the food in the dishes was cheap, though.

I have a few of these 16-pagers, but I don't remember where they came from. There's a spot where the old owner blacked something out in ink, which may have been a price per copy. Published by Sealtest, Inc. (If anyone knows where Sheffield Farms was/is, I'd love to hear from you.)

A diet of gigantic omelets (also Codfish Timbales, Cottage Cheese Rice Patties, and Bean & Cheese Croquettes) appears to have de-aged Mother and Dad. The sons hide their amusement with some help from the milk glasses.

These people clearly had better taste in architecture than in food. ("Asparagus Cheese Loaf": American cheese + asparagus + pimento = the stuff of nightmares.)

"...And today the search continues in the laboratory and in the far-flung corners of the earth for the finest raw products, in order that the Company may constantly maintain its reputation for quality and its traditional policy of keeping faith with consumers..."
Thus Spake Schilling. I've never before felt so heroic tossing a cinnamon stick into the applesauce pot.
