My Photoshop skills are pretty limited, but I went ahead and ran these bigger than they were in the booklet. Just because I love 'em so much. (Clicking on the image itself and then the largest "View All Sizes" option will give you a little more detail.)

"...the art of dining, of entertaining and of old time hospitality-- preceded and accompanied by genuine, matured liquors..."
And buttered toast. Lots and lots of buttered toast.

Was this photo supposed to make the "Cook Book" seem big enough for its own room? ("Freddy, be a dear and take the handtruck and bring in Mother's recipe collection. I think some nice orange-glazed pound cake after supper would be just the thing...")
Also, something clearly went wrong with that stick of butter. Maybe it's transforming into a bar of soap.
From the September issue of Household magazine.

The bread clearly wouldn't turn out sweet enough with just a bottle of 7up and a cup of sugar per loaf. You'd want to dunk each slice in honey and confectioners sugar after it emerged from the oven. Y'know, just to make sure.

Don't be fooled by the company name or Pilgrim Pete there. According to those helpful souls at Google, this dairy was based in Portland, OR. In 1981, it merged with the Northwest Dairymen's Association. I have never seen this brand anywhere in town, but Darigold , manufactured by the NDA both before and after the merger, is still with us.
