The most edible-looking candidate is definitely the "Cuban Submarine" on the lower left. I'm kind of amazed they gave it such a scandalous name, though. From the August issue of Everywoman's magazine.

"It's an open-and-shut case! Sandwiches, those all-time favorites, are perfect fare for hot August days... Each is a jiffy 'full-course meal'... "Whenever sandwiches are served, have a good mustard and a spicy catsup around, since very often men like to add their own little personal touch to them. Be sure, too, to have a sharp knife on hand to cut your sandwiches..." Some of these look like they'd rate a chainsaw, actually. Also, I had no idea that you could once buy canned lobster claw all across America! The Fifties were awesome! From the August issue of Everywoman's magazine.

"Anything-- and nearly anybody-- can make a lamp is artist Richard L. Baer's theory..." It's true. Here we see some favorites by (counter clockwise from Eleven O'Clock) Mrs. O'Leary's Cow, the CEO of the Brach's Candy Co., Mister B Natural, Rufus T. Firefly... From the October issue of Everywoman's magazine.

It's a toss-up as to who looks more uncomfortable here. But at least nobody made them dye their hair to match. From the September issue.

The scary thing is, that steak only serves one. From the August issue.
