Spooky. The average Hanna-Barbera cartoon hausfrau could only dream of being this skinny. Still, I'd rather look at them than at a photo of anything described on this page.

While I'm at it, check out this gallery of local businesses from back then, including a 1960 shot of a Mayflower employee (upper left). She looks singularly unenthused, and who could blame her? The egg 'n cottage cheese scramble combo is probably waiting for her at home.

Don't be fooled by the company name or Pilgrim Pete there. According to those helpful souls at Google, this dairy was based in Portland, OR. In 1981, it merged with the Northwest Dairymen's Association. I have never seen this brand anywhere in town, but Darigold , manufactured by the NDA both before and after the merger, is still with us.
