"Toss-up style." Not a phrase that's aged well. :P

The upper left and lower right images, in particular, make me wonder if directors like Roger Corman and Bill Rebane got routinely dragged to ladies' luncheons during their formative years. (Sweetbreads... bleah!)

Do take these lovely, flavorful greens and sink them deep in a sea of mega-sweetened bland neon goo from a bottle! What could be better?! (Okay. I actually do sometimes crave crappy "French" dressing from a bottle. But only on hunks of iceberg lettuce and maybe a few cement-like boxed croutons. What else would you do with iceberg lettuce, anyway?)

"Serve plump fresh asparagus often while the season lasts. As a main course, side dish, or salad, it brings a touch of spring to your table." Real cheese? Watercress? How in blazes did those get by Editorial?! From the May issue of Family Circle magazine.
