Guessing a date here wasn't easy. Squirt was created in 1938, and the ubiquitous kid mascot, ("L'il Squirt") doesn't appear until 1941. All this according to the drink's current producer, which adds that it became established as a mixer in the Fifties. However, these graphics look more Forties than Fifties to me, so there you are. As a kid in the Northeastern U.S., I remember so many other soda brands: Hoffman's, White Rock, Cel-Ray... Frito Salmon and Carrot Salad! Fritos also go great with asparagus, "mock chicken" (roast veal or pork) and watercress-cream cheese sandwiches! 9 out of 10 picnic-crashing bears agree that Mom's Fritos fixation is starting to become just a wee bit disturbing.
