That stuff in the gravy boat looks pretty scary. No wonder the pelicans are averting their eyes. (Originally posted to flickr on February 13th 2011.)

Card unfolded to give you a better view of the onions. There's a sheer textured plastic layer over them to make them shinier than the rest of the picture. Sorry I couldn't capture that better.

"The few important points to learn about building a Beer-B-Cue fire can be easily mastered. Follow the directions carefully and your fire building will be simple to do..." Or just do what everyone else did back then: Get plastered and impatient and dump a whole bottle of lighter fluid on the grill. Don't give your wife any beer. You'll need her to drive you to the hospital. From a 16 page booklet published by The Tested Recipe Institute, New York, NY and The F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Co., New York & Albany, N.Y.

Menu: Cheeseburgers Minute Rice Green Beans Pimento Mixed Green Salad Frozen Brownies With Marshmallow Sauce Cheeseburgers on rice. Oh-kay. I think Minute Rice is the only brand name mentioned in the recipes. I smell a payoff. Also, those have to be the least appetizing-looking string beans in history. :/

Oh, damn! Who forgot to bring the ketchup? From the April issue of Everywoman's magazine.

Food-wise, none of this is really doing it for me, but the "Corn Casserole" dish is pretty adorable.

Mmm... mmm... Flesh and salt: two of the major food groups. Now all we need is a pitcher of martinis and a carton of vanilla ice cream! From the June issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

But don't try to "tenderize" the meat with plain old 7-Up. It'll disintegrate!
