Brignancourt - Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens-et-Saint-Ét…

The parish church of Brignancourt (pop. 200) is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the area. The nave was completed already late of the 11th century. A transept dates to the 12th century, when the church got enlarged. The church got severely damaged during the Hundred Years War and rebuilt and restored after that. The tympanum of the southern portal has a geometric pattern. The archivolt consists out of daisies. The portal is flanked by two slim columns. Here is the capital of the right side - a head with long braids, reminding me on dreadlocks.

Carcassonne - The Wailers

The Wailers reggae the world since the sixties. Once named "Bob Marley & the Wailers", but since Bob left this planet in 1981, they just are The Wailers. This evening was a mixture of nostalgia, young Rastafaris with swinging dreadlocks, and of course clouds of ganja hanging over the square André Chénier. Here is Aston Barrett, the only person in stage, I remembered from earlier days. He was (and surely is) the "leader" of the band and probably played all bass lines of Bob Marley´s greatest hits. Legends (or rumours) tell, that Bob had about 40 children. Same sources tell, that Aston (aka "Family Man") fathered about 50 kids. Here is "Get up, Stand up" www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhMA2jOa6mA

Tauriac - Saint-Etienne

A "villa Tauriaca" was given to the Bishop of Le Mans already in 585 by some Alderic. At that time probably a chapel existed here. The portal seen today dates to the 12th. century - and it is unusual, as it does have tympana in the flanking arches. Modifications were made, when the church got fortified in the 16th century, but meanwhile the portal is pretty much back to the original state. Most capitals and corbels of the church are undamaged. The person, seen here, has by far the weirdest hairdo I have seen in a very long time. Not to talk about the beard, plaited to feathers. The guy looks like a medieval Rastafari with his long dreadlocks. Ganja-style?!
