Otto von Bismarck was born in Schönhausen in 1815 and was baptized in this church. From 1862 to 1890 - with a brief interruption - he was Prime Minister of Prussia, and from 1867 to 1871 he was also Chancellor of the North German Confederation. From 1871 to 1890 he was the first Reich Chancellor of the German Reich, whose founding he was instrumental in driving forward.
