Saint-Theudère founded a monastery here and was buried there after his death. After the monastery was destroyed during the Norman invasions, it was rebuilt and settled by monks fleeing the Normans from Montier-en-Der. From the second half of the 10th century, new monastery buildings were built, which like the church were completed in the 12th century. In 1536 the abbey was converted into a canon's monastery, which was abandoned in 1774. The convent buildings were destroyed during the French Revolution and mid-19th century. Only the church survived. It contains great medieval frescoes but was locked..
