Hürup - Marienkirche

13 Jul 2021 102
The Marienkirche in Hürup is a Romanesque brick building from the beginning of the 13th century. The church is a simple, single-nave brick building with a flat wooden ceiling. In Gothic times, the chancel was extended by a three-sided end and vaulted. In the 16th century the massive tower was added. In 1892 the tower hall was connected with the nave. Inside there is a six-meter relief from about 1265, an important work of early Gothic sculpture in northern Germany. The church was unfortunately locked.
