Husby was probably an important place in northern Angeln in the Viking Age. It was located at the crossroads of two important trade routes. In 1730, a hoard of coins was found in Husby. The coins of which had been minted in Haithabu between 940 and 980. For centuries Husby was the center of the "Husbyharde". "Harden" were Danish administrative districts.
The church was built in the early 12th century. There was probably a wooden predecessor, as it is assumed that quite soon after the Christianization of the country a church was built in each Harde.
The present building is Romanesque and made of hewn granite blocks. The tower dates from the Gothic period.
Unfortunately the church was locked.
