Champagnac-le-Vieux - Saint-Pierre

Like most villages around Champagnac-le-Vieux once was a priory depended since 1154 on the abbey of La Chaise-Dieu. The parish church of today was the priory church of the "Prior de Champanhac". When times got rougher in the 14th century, the church got fortified and further strengthened a century later, to prevent looters. This is how the bell tower was raised even twice. Though altered, it still is a Romanesque church.
