In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior". The "Kölner Dom" (Cologne Cathedral) seen from the Zoobruecke, that spans the Rhine river in the north of the inner city.
