Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille - Gaël Horellou Identité

Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is known by musicians as this is the place of the "Festival du Monastier" (aka "Festival de Cuivres"), a great meeting centered around "brass". 40 concerts - in 7 days!!
Since decades saxophonist Gaël Horellou, a well known jazz musician, has had many projects with other musicians. During a stay on the island of Reunion he came in contact with local musicians and so "Identité" was formed, a fusion project based on jazz and rhythms of the Indian Ocean. World music at its best! After a while the audience fell in a kind of trance, carried away by the rythm. Floating!
A great performance, that got even better, wilder and more powerful, when musicians from other groups joined in. Whow!
One of them was Simon Girard.
The sound of the night.

40 concerts - in 7 days (!!) - in a town with a population of below 2000. Volunteers and a supporting community of music lovers make this festival possible.
During the week of the festival renowned artists give classes for enthusiastic amateurs. Some of the "professeurs" form the "Combo du Festival", who for one evening had invited Pierre Drevet to join them.
The Combo du Festival was formed by Gaël Horellou (sax), Simon Girard (tromb), Antoine Paganotti (drums), Frederic Nardin (keys) and as a special guest trumpet virtuoso and composer Pierre Drevet.
