Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille - La Band Magnetique

Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is known by musicians as this is the place of the "Festival du Monastier" (aka "Festival de Cuivres"), a great meeting centered around "brass". 40 concerts - in 7 days!!
"La Bande Magnetique" mixes contemporary Jazz with ska and reggae elements what creates a very groovy sound. The contrabass, not common in such an ensemble, fits perfectly. Here saxophonist Gaël Horellou, who is a "local hero" in Le Monastier has joined the "La Band Magnetique". This kind of "jamming" is very commmon during the festival.
Here is the sound:

Since decades French saxophonist Gaël Horellou, a well known jazz musician, has had many projects with other musicians. During a stay on the island of Reunion he came in contact with local musicians and so "Identité" was formed, a fusion project based on jazz and rhythms of the Indian Ocean. World music at its best!
Gaël Horellou Identité performed in Monastier already in 2018, here is a sound of that night, that was similar to the sound of the 2019 afternoon.

After a while the audience fell in a kind of trance, carried away by the rythm. Floating!
A great performance, that got even better, wilder and more powerful, when musicians from other groups joined in. Whow!
One of them was Simon Girard.

40 concerts - in 7 days (!!) - in a town with a population of below 2000. Volunteers and a supporting community of music lovers make this festival possible.
During the week of the festival renowned artists give classes for enthusiastic amateurs. Some of the "professeurs" form the "Combo du Festival", who for one evening had invited Pierre Drevet to join them.
The Combo du Festival was formed by Gaël Horellou (sax), Simon Girard (tromb), Antoine Paganotti (drums), Frederic Nardin (keys) and as a special guest trumpet virtuoso and composer Pierre Drevet.
