Cologne - James Joyce

Cologne is the fourth-largest city in Germany - and one of the oldest. A Germanic tribe, the Ubii, had a settlement here, this was named by the Romans "Oppidum Ubiorum". In 50 AD, the Romans founded "Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium", the city then became the provincial capital of "Germania Inferior". In the before-corona-times the James Joyce has been a nice place to have a nice Guinness, sit outside and watch "the wheels go round and round I really love to watch them roll" (John Lennon). This was especially easy, as the pub is located at a roundabout. Now it is closed and only the Staropramen sign flickers. Czech beer in an Irish pub.

There are more than a dozen Irish pubs in Cologne. The James Joyce is a nice place to have a Guinness, sit outside and watch "the wheels go round and round I really love to watch them roll" (John Lennon).
