The Collégiale Notre-Dame was founded in Beaune within the 10th century. The building of this church, which is a parish church since the French Revolution started in romanesque style within the 12th century. Looking down the nave to the choir, aisles to the sides, behind the pillars. The walls have three levels, probably like Cluny III. Lots of light is in the building, as even the clearstory, under the vaults, have windows.

The collegiate was founded in Beaune within the 10th century, the building of this church, which is parish church since the French Revoltion started in romanesque style within the 12th century. There are many carvings in this church. This capital (for me) is strange. The style is somehow unique. The characters are not in any kind of scenery, but seem to be glued on to the surface. God is looking out of a cloud (cannot be hair) blessing somebody. Under his arm, a person with a nimbus. As most people hold round objects - and there are three of these objects (already) on that nimbus, this depicts probably the stoning of St. Stephanus.

There are many carvings in this church. This carving of this capital reminds me on the style of Gislebertus in Autun, but I cannot "read" it. A very nicely carved scenery (forest?) in the background. In the foreground a holy person (nimbus) puts something/somebody into a basket, supported by a sheep. Any suggestions?
