"Jazz à Vienne" offers 250 concerts per year, 1,000 artists and 200,000 festival visitors.
The 42nd edition took place from 28 June to 13 July 2023.
I heard Faada Freddy for the first time in Beauvais in 2016. His first CD "Gospel Journey" had been released at the time. The acapella group he had formed had a fabulous swing and the music was truly intoxicating.
After that, I experienced the group him several times. They did not lost the groove! After five years, Faada Freddy was back on stage - with his old vigour!

Faada Freddy, born in Saint-Louis (Senegal) has a strong musical background as a member of "Daara J", a Senegalese rap duo, sucessful in Africa and Europe.
Since the album "Gospel Journey" (2015) he collaborates with a group of fantastic vocalists - and no instruments at all. They form the most excisting "a capella" group I ever heard, as they mix soul, blues, jazz, rap, hip hop using their voices as well as elements of beatboxing, let aside stomping and clapping.
I had been in Beauvais´ "Maladrerie" when he performed there in spring, and now was thrilled to be in Carcassonne, when he performed on the "Place Carnot".

They did a great perfomance in Beauvais, so thrilling, that I checked the tourdates - and saw them again later that year.
