Beauvais - Faada Freddy

28 Nov 2016 252
Faada Freddy, born in Saint-Louis (Senegal) has a strong musical background as a member of "Daara J", a Senegalese rap duo, sucessful in Africa and Europe. Since the album "Gospel Journey" (2015) he collaborates with a group of fantastic vocalists - and no instruments at all. They form the most excisting "a capella" group I ever heard, as they mix soul, blues, jazz, rap, hip hop using their voices as well as elements of beatboxing, let aside stomping and clapping. They did a great perfomance in Beauvais, so thrilling, that I checked the tourdates - and saw them again later that year. Here is the sound: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjFSAvbXMT0

Beauvais - Blick Bassy

Blick Bassy, born in Cameroon, mixes traditional rhythms and sounds with Jazz and Soul. Singing and playing Banjo and guitar, he is strongly supported by congenial Clément Petit (violincello) and Johan Blanc (trombone). A perfect trio! Their performance in the Maladrerie Saint-Lazare was pretty enthralling, sometimes surprising and all the time very entertaining. Blick Bassy some months later at Jazz à Vienne 2016: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY_WM0FopJ8
