From 1850 on Cesare Mattei had this castle built in Savignano, now part of Rocchetta Mattei. Based on Samuel Hahnemann´s homoeopathy Cesare Mattei developed a doctrine he named "electro-homoeopathy", that had some popularity in the second half of the 19th century. Clients from all over Europe travelled to this castle, hoping to get cured. One of them was Ludwig II of Bavaria, who later as well had some strangely historistic building projects like the Neuschwanstein Castle and the Linderhof Palace. I´m sure Cesare Mattei inspired Ludwig II.
