Secondigné-sur-Belle, a village of a pop. about 500, hosts the pretty large church Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens, erected probably within the 12th century, but altered and enlarged later. Seen here is the portal. There are quite a lot churches named "St. Peter in Chains" in Europe. They all refer to St. Peter’s miraculous escape from prison - Acts 12:1-19. The chains are on display in "San Pietro in Vincoli" in Rome.

"San Pietro in Vinculis" translates to "Saint Peter in Chains", though here it looks like "Saint Peter behind Cables". Remembered here is the liberation of Saint Peter (Acts 12:1-19), when Saint Peter was recued from priosn by an angel. A church, named "San Pietro ai Sette Pini" had existed here since 763, the Romanesque church seen today got erected by Augustinian canons 1172 - 1118.
