The "Festival de Carcassonne" is a fantastic months long festival with lots of concerts! It is always a pleasure to spend some nights here during the festival. With Kid Creole & The Coconuts the audience jumped headfirst into the early 1980s. While August Darnell (= "Kid Creole") has reached retiring age, the 70s, the blond Coconuts are (of course) for ever young. But August still has the rythm, the zoot suits and the broad-brimmed hats. Will Barber is a singer-guitarist, who became known to the general public by his candidacy for TV-show "The Voice". He plays the different guitars (acoustic, electric, lap) absolutely masterly and was a great surprise for me. A rising star! Since the album "Gospel Journey" (2015) he collaborates with a group of fantastic vocalists - and no instruments at all. They form the most excisting "a capella" group I ever heard, as they mix soul, blues, jazz, rap, hip hop using their voices as well as elements of beatboxing, let aside stomping and clapping. I had been in Beauvais´ "Maladrerie" when he performed there in spring, and now was thrilled to be in Carcassonne, when he performed on the "Place Carnot".
