The erection of Santa María de Palacio was already started in the 12th century, funded by Alfonso VII de León. The oldest structures seen today date back to the 13th century, most of it was built within 15th century. As the church is "under renovation" and hidden behind scaffoldings, I just took some photos inside.

The large altar of Santa María de Palacio was originally created the Cathedral of Santa María de la Redonda, where it was not accepted.
